Actor Tom Cruise is in talks with The Revenant director Alejandro G. Iñárritu to work on his next. This would be Inarritu’s second English language film after The Revenant, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio. The film won three Oscars, including best actor for DiCaprio. The plot details are being kept under wraps. Writers for the project are Iñárritu, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolás Giacobone. Dinelaris and Giacobone have previously worked on Bird Man.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment are in talks to acquire the project, and Cruise will produce alongside Legendary. Cruise, following the success of Top Gun: Maverick, might soon be working on Top Gun 3. Reportedly, one of the writers of Top Gun Maverick, Ehren Kruger is already writing for it and Joe Kosinski has been tapped to be the director.
The action superstar, who has only featured in big-budget franchise projects in the last decade, inked a deal with Warner Bros recently. There is speculation that Cruise is eager to work with to filmmakers on individual projects, PTI reported. Cruise is currently working on the next Mission Impossible movie. Cruise, despite being one of the most money-making filmstars of his era, is yet to win an Oscar.
