Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot earlier this year amid intense scrutiny over their interfaith marriage. While the stars opted for a civil ceremony instead of religious ceremonies, they still faced severe backlash and trolling, so much so that they were forced to switch off comments on their wedding posts.
Now, just months after they wed, the couple were captured performing the Ganpati Aarti at Arpita Khan Sharma’s home on Saturday, September 7. For those who don’t know, the actress is a Hindu and her husband is a Muslim. After their marriage, Sona didn’t convert to Islam.
Earlier today, Sonakshi Sinha took to her Instagram handle and shared a post of her and Zaheer Iqbal celebrating their first Ganesh Chaturthi together after marriage. The actress simply captioned the video, “Love grows in respect, when a couple honors each others beliefs in true harmony…Our first Ganpati after shaadi. (sic)” The caption also included a heart and evil eye emoji.
In the video, Sonakshi and Zaheer can be seen performing the aarti and offering prayers to Lord Ganesha. The duo – who complimented each other in blue ensembles, also posed together in front of the Lord Ganesha idol. While Sonakshi looked beautiful in a simple yet elegant blue salwar suit, Zaheer opted for a gradient blue and white kurta. Together, they held the Aarti thali and offered their prayers. Check out the post below.
Soankshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal started dating in 2017 and starred together in the film Double XL. The couple tied the knot on June 23, 2024, via a civil ceremony under the Special Marriage Act.[95]
