They think that this tattoo shows their devotion and reverence towards their deity and brings them closer to him. But is it right or wrong to get a tattoo of gods and goddesses? Many types of people come to Saint Premanand Ji Maharaj of Vrindavan. Similarly, a Shiva devotee also came to meet him. He had a trident made on his left hand and Mahadev written on the other hand. When he came to Premanand Ji, his eyes fell on his tattoo and Premanand Maharaj stopped him. He told me why one should not get a tattoo of God or his symbols.
Getting a tattoo of God on the body is wrong.
Premanand Maharaj told the person that you have got a tattoo of Trishul on your left hand. The left hand is used for defecation, when you take a bath, the water falling on the body goes from your hand to the feet. That water first falls on the tattoo of Trishul or Goddess Devi and from there goes to your feet. If this happens, there is a possibility of crime somewhere. I believe that one should not get a tattoo of God’s name and God. I prohibit it.
Premanand Maharaj gave this suggestion to the youth.
Premanand Maharaj told the youth that they should get a beautiful flower made on the Trishul and get a picture made where Mahadev is written. This is our advice. On this, the youth said that Maharaj ji! You will like it when you come next time.
Many times people get tattoos of God unknowingly. Now when people wear Rudraksha, they take it out and keep it aside while bathing or defecating and then wear it again. But the problem with tattoos is that you cannot remove them like Rudraksha beads. In such a case, you will be blamed.
