Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has suffered a back injury that will keep him out of training, the club have confirmed.
COPE says he is still expected to play the Club World Cup which is supposed to start in June, as the Uruguayan will return from this in a week’s time.
Here is the official announcement from the club about Fede’s injury:
“Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with lumbosciatica. The outcome is pending.”

It is good that the injury is happening now and not close to the start date of the inaugural Club World Cup, as Real Madrid are already short-handed in defense and midfield due to multiple fitness problems towards the end of the season.
A week of rest and recovery will do Fede a lot of good too as he has been playing and training regularly for a very long time.
