Actor Mahima Chaudhary was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2022. Though she didn’t reveal it by herself, actor Anupam Kher shared an emotional video of Mahima where he revealed her cancer diagnosis story. Years later, after valiantly battling cancer, Mahima recently revealed that her parents were unaware of her diagnosis until they saw Anupam’s video. During a candid chat with Bollywood Bubble, Mahima revealed that Anupam was shooting a normal video; however, he spontaneously dropped the video on Instagram.
Recalling the story, Mahima was shown a picture when she was battling cancer. The actress said, “This is the day that Mr Kher shot the video that he put on Google. And I was shooting with Gajendra Ahire’s son who is a very good photographer, were shooting the poster or just a publicity shoot for the film. I didn’t know but Anupam sir tried to take pictures/shots from different angles and then he started questioning. I was so spontaneous that I started to reply. And then he found it so good that he showed it to my sister, saying ‘Kya fatak si light main shoot kiya, yeh bolti chali gaye aur fir cut hogaya’, and my sister was like fantastic upload kardo. I had not disclosed to my parents about battling with cancer, inhone daal diya.“
She continued, “My dad got a notification from Google and he was watching the interview. My daughter knew and she called me saying Mumma grandpa is watching your story, and I was like what interview? It’s okay let him watch, he can hear naa, but my dad is a little hard of hearing. She said no your cancer story, and my reaction was like how? Then I saw the video was all over the internet, and I consented to it. And that’s when I realised his reach. I had planned that I would go to the room, call my dad, and tell him, but his reach was faster than the BBC.“
The Baghban actor added, “I took my courage from other people’s stories. I took my courage from Sanjay Dutt. The way he dealt with it in the fourth stage, walking around, shooting a film, and here I was walking like… I was like what’s wrong with me? I’ve to keep going, Angelina Jolie just walks into the doctor, saying you know I want to care of this. I’m more likely to get breast cancer, and uterine cancer, take out all of these organs, and I am done with my children. Like it takes courage, you know she has those BRCA1 genes. So when the doctor was telling me I was like I don’t want to get rid of anything. You know I got my courage from there.”
