The Kerala State Film Awards 2022 were declared on Friday. The awards were announced by Minister for Cultural Affairs, Saji Cheriyan. Mammootty bagged the award for Best Actor for his performance in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam , Vincy Aloshious walked away with the trophy for Best Actress for the portrayal of the title character in Rekha.
The race for Best Actor is tight with Mammootty, Kunchacko Boban and Soubin Shahir among the frontrunners. The announcement, earlier scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed due to the state mourning in the wake of the death of former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy.
A total of 42 films were shortlisted for the final round of the awards. The jury was headed by filmmaker Goutam Ghosh.
