The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced the launch of a new FASTag-based annual pass to make travel on highways easier and free from toll disputes. This pass will be for private non-commercial vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. Announcing this on social media, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the price of this pass will be Rs 3,000 for one year, and it will be applicable from August 15, 2025.
FASTag Annual Pass: How long will the pass be valid?
This pass will be valid either for 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, whichever is completed first. It will be especially beneficial for those who live around the toll plaza, i.e. within a radius of 60 km and travel up and down daily.
FASTag Annual Pass: Where to get the pass?
The ‘Highway Travel’ mobile app can be used to get this annual pass. Also, this facility will be made available on the official websites of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport. A separate link for activation and renewal will be released before the launch.

According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the purpose of this annual pass is to relieve people from the hassle of paying tolls repeatedly. By paying Rs 3,000 once, the journey will become easy for the whole year. Especially short distance travelers will get the most benefit from this because now there will be no worry of toll being deducted every time.

This facility is expected to reduce the congestion at toll plazas. Also, public complaints related to frequent toll deductions will be reduced. The government believes that this facility will not only make the journey faster. But it will also make the movement of private vehicles on the highway network easier and dispute-free.
