During a fun interview with Bollywood Bubble, actor Mahima Chaudhary revealed that she was never supposed to be in Salman Khan starrer Tere Naam. That’s right! While playing memory book with her, she happened to reveal that it all happened last moment. When the song came to her, she just recovered from an accident and she was trying to get back to the cinema. However, it was challenging for her because people approached her only for cameos and guest appearances. She wanted to come back as the main lead.
When shown a picture of her and Salman Khan, the actress recalled how she became a part of the film. Chaudhary told us, “Oh this one, this is from Tere Naam. Actually, I wasn’t supposed to be a part of this film. At that time, I had met with an accident so I was trying to get back into the cinema people asked me to go for songs, I tried to come as a guest in movies then. So all the cameos or special guest appearances that I paid for were super hits everywhere. And that’s also when people started calling me for songs in movies. It soon grew to become a challenge for me, on how to get back into becoming the main lead. So this was during that phase in my life.“
She added, “The film shoot had already begun, and it was a Satish Kaushik film. The song was supposed to be shot the next day in Hyderabad, but the female introduction of the main lead did not happen then. And there was a song supposed to showcase the boy and the girl, they were expected to sing together. So they were like Salman ke saath koun gaana gaayega? Call someone immediately, and it went to Mahima Chaudhary ko bulao. So how can you say no to Satish Kaushik? I told him that I didn’t have any clothes or costumes, and he was like just get your jeans and your top. And I took my jeans and went like Oh Jaana… So it was my own necklace and all of that. Thank god I had just come from America then so I had everything.“
When shown a picture of Mahima Chaudhary with Shah Rukh Khan, she said ” Well in the other picture and in this picture, there is a similarity. I was wearing a wig then and I still continue to do so. I was a VJ back then, and so I had Chinese fringes then straight hair. So the director was like tum to pahadi lagogi, we tried to fix it but it would still fall on my face. And so I was given a new look with some old fashion trick, I had long hair in the back.“
