Popular Telugu actor and politician Pawan Kalyan claimed that there is no nepotism in Tollywood, an industry that often attracts criticism for encouraging nepotism.
Speaking at a pre-release event of the upcoming Telugu comedy drama Bro, starring Kalyan, his nephew and Chiranjeevi’s son Sai Dharam Tej, Priya Prakash Varrier and Ketika Sharma, among others, Kalyan, popularly known as ‘Power Star’, observed that the doors of cinema and politics are open for all.
Ram Charan, who became a household name after the hugely popular RRR, is the nephew of Kalyan. His other nephews, Sai Dharam Tej, Panja Vaisshnav Tej, and niece Niharika Konidela too, are popular actors.
Kalyan said he had no plans to act in films, and when his brother, superstar Chiranjeevi, asked him if he plans to act, Kalyan told his brother that he was fearful about it. He claimed that Chiranjeevi made a name for himself in the industry although he didn’t have any influential background or connections.
“When someone like us with ordinary backgrounds can do it, why can’t anyone else,” Kalyan has been quoted as saying.
He further said audience has always been his priority and added that there may be some problems within families, but this would not come in the way of the efforts to entertain moviegoers.
