The highly anticipated Devara: Part 1 is set to break records this weekend, with advance bookings already racking up Rs 50 crore worldwide.
According to Sacnilk, a data collection website predominantly for Indian films, the pre-sales crossed Rs 28 crore domestically, with an additional Rs 22 crore worldwide.
Close to 7 lakh tickets have been sold in India, with 6,76,420 sold to Telugu audience. Given the massive advance bookings, the film is expected to join the 100-crore club. The film was initially set for release as a single film, but was later split into two parts.
The film is being released in Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam.
Interestingly, the Hindi version is racking up the second-most sales after the original Telugu, with tickets worth Rs 16 lakh sold. The popularity in north India is mostly due to Jr NTR’s RRR, which won Best Original Song for Naatu Naatu at the Oscars in 2023.
Also, the song Chuttamalle by Anirudh Ravichander in the film has gone viral, with over 135 million views on YouTube.
Directed and written by Koratala Siva, Devara: Part 1 follows the life of titular character Devara, who is tasked with a mission at sea to protect his people, but finds himself facing his brother Bhaira, who conspired against him.
The film stars N.T. Rama Rao Jr, Jhanvi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Chaitra Rai and Shine Tom Chacko. It is the first Telugu film for Kapoor and Khan.
