Actor Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have come together for the horror comedy Bhoot Bangla. This director-actor duo was a hit pair in the early 2000s and when they announced they were coming together, fans just couldn’t contain their happiness. As they are coming together, the director Priyadarshan feels that matching the audience’s expectations would be a challenge. Nevertheless, he is trying his best for the movie.
“Every film I’ve made with him has been a super hit. People say that you are the reason Akshay (does comedy), but I don’t believe in all those things. What I did was exploit his sense of humour (on screen). We are working after 14 years and I hope things will work. It’s a challenge. We can’t match the expectations (of the audience) but I’m trying my best,” the filmmaker told PTI in an interview on the sidelines of the IIFA Awards in Abu Dhabi.
“He is a disciplined actor. After Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan), he is a man who is a dedicated actor and who comes on time. He listens to the director,” he said.
Earlier this month, Kumar announced his next movie with director Priyadarshan. He penned a heartfelt note saying, “Thank you for your love on my birthday, year after year! Celebrating this year with the first look of ‘Bhooth Bangla’! I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years. This dream collaboration has been a long time coming… can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all. Stay tuned for the magic!“
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have worked together in movies like Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhag, Garam Masala and De Dana Dan. The last movie they worked together was for Katha Meetha which also starred Trisha.
