Alia Bhatt, who made her Bollywood debut in 2012, has established herself as a versatile actor over the years. However, her initial days in the industry were not easy. In a recent interview, Alia Bhatt recalls how she dealt with body image issues and struggled to overcome it. Despite losing weight, Alia revealed that she was constantly self-critical about her appearance.
Recalling how she was as a child, the actress recalls in an interview with Allure, “I was quite a chubby, healthy kind of kid, very happy with my life at the time. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the way I looked,” she said. However, as she entered the film industry, her perception of herself began to change. She struggled with body-image issues, constantly feeling pressure to lose weight. The actress shares, “I have struggled with body-image issues since then. No matter how much weight I lost, I always struggled. My friends would say, ‘Alia, you need to stop dieting. Just be calm, live a little, eat some food.’ And I used to be like, Once a fat kid, always a fat kid. I used to say that in my head, no matter how much weight I lost.”
Sharing her opinion on what she thinks is true beauty, she told the portal, “Beauty is truly what you perceive of yourself. When they say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, that’s one way to look at it. But I genuinely feel beauty really lies within the eyes of yourself…. The way you perceive yourself is the way you project.”
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt is set to star in Jigra, directed by Vasan Bala. The film explores the emotional bond between a brother and sister and is set on release on October 11. After this, she has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War alongside hubby Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film will soon go on floors and release in March 2026. Apart from this, she will lead the first female spy universe film Alpha alongside Sharvari Wagh.
Well, looks like Alia is all set to enthral audience with an impressive lineup and we just can’t wait to see these shades of her.
