A brief encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Sangram village in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian early this morning. Police said the gunfight has now stopped and search operations are taking place in the area.

At least two terrorists are believed to be hiding in a house in the village.

The encounter broke out after security forces launched a search operation after receiving intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in Sangram village, police said.

"As the security forces closed in on the hiding terrorists, they fired triggering the ongoing gunfight," the police said.

Authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Shopian district.
